She holds a black belt in Chinese American Goju Ryu, a brown belt in small circle jiu jitsu, a BA in English Literature, and an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction. They have been a guest speaker at many fiction and fantasy conventions across the United States.
Her readers say GIE is a "master of world building," who is "stellar" at normalizing LGBTQIA+ characters and relationships and "writing for the broader community."
In her spare time, GIE enjoys spending time with her wife, Laura, and their tuxedo cat. They also love playing D&D, reading, hiking, GMing, contact juggling, and doing martial arts with her niece and nephew. She never passes up an opportunity to learn a new kata.
